2019 Triathlon Season is Underway
I was able to focus and the training is already paying off. I’m very confident for the upcoming races.
It's time to get down to business. We've announced our first few races of the season. So, what are they? Check them out.
Being stuck in the mountains last summer with a hamstring injury whilst everyone else around me went crazy with training made me think about my future.
“Do I still want to invest in triathlon or is it time to close that chapter and start to focus on a life after triathlon?
It took me some time but I knew that I was not able to stop right now. That feeling after a really fast track session in the heat of the summer, or my World Cup win in the crazy town of Tiszaujvaros, Hungary is irreplaceable. I want to feel it again and for that I’m willing to work hard and dedicate all I’ve got.
In September I started with core training with my physio and I made a lot of progress with my fundamental strength. I can’t stress enough how important it is to have a stable core before you start your serious training and I felt that I missed this the last few years.
At the same time I was back at university and had some really great and interesting projects to work on. To have something parallel to sports, challenging my brain and staying active, helped me a lot.
After overcoming the flu in December, I really looked forward to go to my first training camp in Gran Canaria to make a proper build up for the season.
Gran Canaria is just so amazing and great for long and steady bike rides in the mountains, oceans swim or just a long and scenic run up the valley. I was able to focus and the training is already paying off. I’m very confident for the upcoming races. Stay tuned, it’s time to rock and roll again!
